A 9-manTechnical Committee to pilot the affairs of Kaduna United FC has been inaugurated yesterday by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Bashir Zubairu Usman (the Ciroman Birnin Gwari).
The committee would be chaired by the commissioner himself, while Garba Lawal (MON) who is also the new General Manager of the team is a member of the committee. Other members include Dr. Alex Mana, a former FIFA referee; Hon Danjuma Akuso, the National/Kaduna state ALGON chairman and a previous board member of the dissolved Kaduna United, Chief Ben Omale.
Others are former General Manager of the team, Hon Sabo Bababyero (member), Alhaji Magaji Aliyu aka (Bagaji the Boss-member), Mal. Adamu Jibril Aliyu (member) and Deputy Director of Sports in the Sports ministry, Mr. Elisha S. Yashim also as a member.
Addressing the committee at the Conference Hall of Youth and Sports Ministry, the commissioner said that the ministry understood that there were a lot of problems associated with Kaduna United hence the need to dissolve and reconstitute a new board which metamorphosed to Technical Committee.
He added that: “whenever there is a change of administration there must be a change of programmes and activities and in that aspect, myself, the permanent secretary and other members of this ministry understand that Kaduna United have been suffering for a very long period and we are not blaming anybody, rather we want to forge ahead,” Zubairu said.
He said the ministry and the technical committee are supposed to make the people of Kaduna state proud and happy when the 2014 Premier League finally kicks off on March 7, adding that, “that is the reason why a decision was taken to write a memo to Gov Tijjani Ramalan Yero proposing for the reconstitution of a new board with a view to tackling those problems that are so glaring.”
The commissioner told the press that the governor responded by saying he has no objection for the reconstitution of the board. “That is why the former board was dissolved and replaced by a technical committee and will take responsibility of the board. Every member of this technical committee was appointed based on merit because he is deemed to be fit to contribute to the development of football in Kaduna state in particular and the country as a large.
“When I was appointed as the state commissioner for sports and had a discussion with my permanent secretary and asked him about the position of Kaduna United he told me he has a lot to tell me. I forwarded a memo to the governor based on our discussions and this is where we found ourselves today,” the Chiroman Birnin Gwari added.
Meanwhile, the commissioner has congratulated all the appointed members of the newly formed technical committee and asked them to work for the progress of Kaduna United and ensure that the club earned a ticket for a continental slot at the end of the 2014 Premier League.
Speaking on behalf of the technical committee, former FIFA referee and a lecturer at the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Dr. Alex Mana said they appreciated the government gesture toward them by giving them opportunity to serve in the committee, but however warned that he in particular would not fail to resign his appointment if they are not allowed to the right thing.
